Just letting you know that Tescos is not going to appeal but is going back to the drawing board to come up with another plan for a store in Hadleigh see article in todays (7th Jan) Evening Star page 7. I am sure the debate will continue....

Of course - the full facts of the Tesco giant (and other supermarkets) need to come out. If we really want our towns to live again and our local economy to improve then supermarkets need to be curtailed

Why? There are enough suppliers of quality food stu*** etc. Why do towns and villages that have a good shopping centre need Tescos (or the like). They provide part-time jobs on temporary contracts, give artificial pricing to lure people in and then either hike the prices up or reduce the quality. Remember that these giants don't pay the taxes that other smaller businesses have to pay.

Very true often small shops don't survive because of the high business rates they have to pay. A real shame.
