On Wednesday November 30 Hadleigh Community Primary School will be forced to close as a number of its teachers join in with the NUT strikes.

Suffolk County Council is also urging other parents in Hadleigh to be prepared for other schools in the area closing due to the planned industrial action.

The National Union of Teachers (NUT) will strike on Wednesday as a way of protesting against the Government's proposed pension reforms which they are unhappy with.

Speaking as Chair of Suffolk Resilience Forum, Andy Fry, Director of Public Protection at Suffolk County Council said that it will not be known if all schools will be affected by the strikes until a few days before November 30.

He said: "It is important for parents and guardians to start preparing now for the very real possibility that their children's schools will be closed. Our primary concern is the safety and wellbeing of Suffolk people."

The Suffolk Resilience Forum has been set up to represent organisations 'responsible for maintaining public services across the county in the event of a major incident or emergency'.

Unions representing public sector workers are currently balloting their members to see if they also want to strike on November 30. Like the NUT the other unions are unhappy about the Government's planned changes to public sector pensions which could see workers having to pay 50% more for their pensions.
