Hadleigh Community Facility opening in summer 2012

Residents of Hadleigh can look forward to late summer 2012 when 'Hadleigh's Community Facility' opens. Let's hope Babergh District Council have come up with a better name for it by then!

Hadleigh Swimming Pool

The Community Facility will be a two storey unit costing £2.4 million. The building will house a dance studio, gym and community room and is being built in Stonehouse Road close to Hadleigh Swimming Pool which you can see above.

The South Suffolk Leisure Trust which manages the Hadleigh Swimming Pool and Kingfisher Swimming Centre in Sudbury will also be managing the new Hadleigh 'Community Facility' when it opens.

Chris Moss chairman of the South Suffolk Leisure Trust said: "South Suffolk Leisure is delighted to be part of this exciting community project.

"The new design and layout allows the old and new facilities to become one. This truly demonstrates Babergh District Council's commitment to swimming and community activity in Hadleigh."

Hadleigh Town Council will be contributing £30,000 to the building and Hadleigh's mayor Penny Cook described the new building as 'excellent news for the town' and thanked Babergh District Council who have finally allowed the building work to go ahead.

A competition sounds like a good idea, after all it is a 'facility' for the people, so why not let us name it :) Good to see the CEO on here too.

I hope that the new facility is used by people in the Town. I would hate it if it turned out to be a waste of money...... sadly that is often the case with these type of things.
