Hadleigh United goalkeeper Dan Heath writes for Hadleigh People:

A very well deserved point at a high flying Ely City.  We travelled to Ely on the back of two poor performances and two disappointing defeats.

Ely had been unbeaten in their last thirteen games.  We started strongly with new signing Lee Mcglone scoring after fourteen minutes after a great cross from Ben Deacon.  Ely then came back into it when I had to save to my right.  Two minutes later Josh Breidgeman equalised for Ely from the edge of the box.

Ely put pressure on us from long throws and dangerous corners but we defended very well.  We had a chance to go back into the lead however Lee could only head wide.

At half time we really felt in the game and knew we could quite easily come away with a point.  However straight from the restart Ely had two good chances where we had to be on a guard and eventually they only amounted to a couple of comfortable saves for me.

The game was exciting to be part of as the ball went from end to end, however we finished strongest and had two chances to take all three points.  Ben Deacon was through one on one with the Ely goalkeeper only to strike the ball straight at the advancing goalkeeper.

Two minutes later Lee went through one on one again however the Ely defender recovered to prevent a certain goal.

The final whistle blew and we had finished with a point.  All in all it was a good battling performance and before the start of the game we would have been delighted with a point; however we left thinking it could have been so much more.
